Stopping Dryness in its Tracks
The first tip is keeping your hair moisturized for longer.
If you struggle with dry and brittle hair your hair is going to give you a lot of trouble, because dry hair causes a lot more damage than you might think.
When your hair is dry it not only looks dull and is much harder to detangle, but it also becomes weaker, making your hair more prone to excessive breakage and shedding; and when your hair is tangled, dull, weak and shedding a lot, your hair is not looking good, growing well or giving you motivation to take care of it how you should.
Ensuring that your hair stays moisturized is key to making your hair growth journey easy and successful.
Here’s 3 techniques you can use to get rid of dry, brittle hair:
The first is Hot Oil treatments.
Hot oil treatments are an amazing remedy for chronically dry hair and is known to keep your hair soft and moisturized far after your wash day because the heat from the oil helps to open our cuticles and allow moisture to penetrate more deeply into our hair strands.
to install a hot oil treatment you will
Add 2 oz of each oil to your applicator bottle. Shake well to
Bring a pot with water to almost a rolling boil. Once you begin to see steam rise from the pot, the water has reached the appropriate temperature. Turn the heat off.
Place the applicator bottle with your oil mixture in it inside of the pot of warm water. Leave to warm for 7-10 minutes.
Before applying to your scalp, test the oil on your wrist to make sure it’s not too hot. If it’s too hot, allow it time to cool to avoid burning yourself.
Place warm water into a spray bottle. Warm water from the faucet is generally safe to use, but if you live in a hard water environment, I recommend using bottled water heated on the stove then placed into a spray bottle.
To prevent the water from becoming too hot, dip your finger into the pot as the water heats up and remove it from heat right before it becomes too hot for you to touch it. Once it has reached this temperature pour or funnel into a spray bottle.
Spray your hair with the warmed water and work it into your hair very well.
Section your hair into 4-6 sections.
Apply the hot oil treatment to each section. Work the mixture into your hair and scalp well.
Cover your hair with two shower caps or shopping bags. Leave for one hour.
Shampoo your hair no more than twice. Then moisturize, detangle and style as usual

Deep conditioners
The next way you can make your hair softer and grow faster and easier is by using a deep conditioning treatment.
Deep conditioners are hair treatments you use to boost your hair’s moisture level, and honestly, using a deep conditioner every wash day is essential to my natural hair care routine.
I place my deep conditioner on before I wash my hair because this makes detangling my hair after shampooing much easier. Doing this, I also noticed much less shedding throughout my wash day process, and even after during styling.
I always recommend deep conditioners made with natural ingredients and herbs, and because we are looking for moisture you want to include ingredients that are high in fatty acids, vitamin e and a, and protein. Fatty acids help form the lipid barrier that lock in moisture.
Vitamin a encourages our skin glands to produce sebum, which is a natural oil our body produces to naturally moisturize and condition our hair. Vitamin e helps maintain our hair’s moisture balance and protein helps our hair hold onto moisture.
When you combine all of these into one deep conditioner youre looking at the solution to chronically dry hair that refuses to grow.
You can use my free DIY recipe or you can shop my deep conditioning protein treatment here as we are taking orders for our next batch!
This recipe has allowed tons of people to grow their hair thicker, longer and stronger with its anti-breakage and hair growth accelerating properties.

The Greenhouse Method
The greenhouse method is a less popular but quite effective technique used in the natural hair community to remedy chronically dry hair. The caveat is that it has to be used with caution because if you do not install it properly it can cause more harm than good.
This is how to do it:
You want to dampen your hair then seal with an oil, cream or hair butter of your choice.
Next you're going to gather your hair however you would prefer, in a bun, multiple braids or twists, or out in an afro if you would like.
Then you’re going to put on a plastic cap and sleep with the cap on overnight. In the morning your hair should be extremely soft and moisturized.
You will do this 2-3 times a week depending on what your hair needs and how it hair responds to this method.
If you notice that your hair is mushy this is an indication of your hair being too moisturized. The best way to address this is to reduce the frequency of which you use the greenhouse method and use a protein treatment.
