Our Story
As two people very familiar with housing insecurity, having experienced homelessness for multiple years in both of our childhoods, we wanted to create a project that helps families directly and immediately.
So we joined together and decided to use our passion for the arts to fundraise for those in need. View the original poems written and performed by Sierra during our showcase below.
Sunkissed child,
I wish people knew how to love you.
Wish they understood how your presence
is the absorption of all that exists,
And that even when painted as the absence
of light,
You still blind people by your radiance,
You still blind people by your refusal of the
negative connotation of darkness.
Sunkissed child,
I wish people knew how to see you.
Feel you.
Perceive you.
But instead, people are so comfortable with
mourning you.
Watching trauma and innocence become of
and be ripped away from you,
Sunkissed child,
I wish people knew how to love you.
Wish they understood how your presence
is the absorption of all that exists,
And that even when painted as the absence
of light,
You still blind people by your radiance,
You still blind people by your refusal of the
negative connotation of darkness.
Sunkissed child,
I wish people knew how to see you.
Feel you.
Perceive you.
But instead, people are so comfortable with
mourning you.
Watching trauma and innocence become of
and be ripped away from you,
